Local Attractions

**New** for 2010 Danes Court Woods!! Take advantage of being on the doorstep (literally) of magnificent walking country.

The local area of Cartmel Fell is an ideal base for walking, relaxing and sight-seeing. With deer and birds for neighbours, Danes Court is a haven of tranquillity, giving you time to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet...or take advantage of being on the doorstep of magnificent walking country...or explore breath-taking scenery and famous sights of the Lake District.

New for 2010 is Dane Court Woods. Over two acres of delightful mixed woodland surrounding Danes Court Cottages. Totally private and now open for picnics, walks, adventures and wildlife.

We are just 4 miles from Lake Windermere at Fell Foot Country Park and handy for Bowness and Kendal as well as the pleasures at Coniston Water and Grange-over-Sands. The National Trust property of Sizergh Castle is only 5 miles away and there are also the houses, churches and exhibitions connected with Beatrix Potter and Wordsworth, whilst the many charming Cumbrian villages are special to browse round. When you want sustenance or company, there are many excellent pubs and restaurants in the area. There is an inn with character and great cuisine within 3/4 mile and the small hamlet of Bowland Bridge with a provisions shop is only a mile away.

We strive to provide the foundation for a memorable holiday. So many of our guests have returned year after year, with children then with grandchildren and often with friends. An advantage of the houses being adjacent is that they are ideal for two families or groups of friends, as they can have their own space yet still holiday together.
